A fuel tanker driver lost his life in a horrific road accident at Adubinso in the Ashanti Region after his vehicle overturned and burst into flames, destroying multiple roadside shops and leaving another person with severe injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Abass Toure, a resident of Adubinso in the Afigya Kwabre South Municipality. Eyewitnesses reported that he died instantly when the tanker caught fire.
According to residents, the tanker was traveling from the Edwinase area toward Adubinso when the driver reportedly lost control while attempting to park by the roadside. The vehicle overturned and was quickly engulfed in flames.
A mate who was traveling with Toure sustained serious burns and is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.
Confirming the incident, Mamponteng Fire Commander DOII Akua Brago stated that the Ghana National Fire Service received a distress call at 12:05 p.m. and arrived at the scene by 12:25 p.m. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
However, the fire caused significant destruction. Seven container shops along the roadside were completely destroyed, and a Ford vehicle parked near a house was also burned.
Local sources indicate that the body of the deceased will be buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
The tragic incident has left residents of Adubinso in shock and mourning as the community grapples with the sudden loss of one of its own.
