Sammi Awuku has expressed skepticism over the government's commitment to reducing wastage, highlighting recent actions that contradict the promise of efficiency. Awuku, who previously served at the National Lottery Authority (NLA) under the Ministry of Finance, criticized the government's claim of streamlining operations.
He stated, “The government talks about reducing wastage, but we have yet to see any tangible actions.” He further pointed out that, despite the promises, regional executives of the ruling party were being appointed as presidential staffers, a move he found inconsistent with claims of reducing excess personnel.
Awuku suggested that if the government were genuinely committed to improving efficiency, it should first focus on eliminating internal waste before making dismissals under the guise of reform.
In his State of the Nation Address earlier today, President John Dramani Mahama laid out his administration’s plans for economic recovery, job creation, and infrastructural development. The President emphasized the importance of stabilizing the economy, reducing the cost of living, and enhancing the tourism and healthcare sectors. He also addressed the need for greater transparency and accountability, vowing to combat corruption and ensure more efficient public service delivery.
