James Agalga Appointed Majority Leader Following Ministerial Reshuffle

 

Builsa North Member of Parliament, James Agalga, has been named as the new Majority Leader in Parliament. This development comes on the heels of a significant ministerial reshuffle announced by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to reports, Agalga steps into the role previously held by Mahama Ayariga, who has been nominated by the President as the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs-designate.

In a related move, President Mahama has also nominated the current Works, Housing, and Water Resources Minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, as the Defence Minister-designate. A statement from the Presidency confirmed that Adjei has been reassigned to the Defence portfolio, with the changes formally submitted to Parliament through the Speaker, in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

Further adjustments include the reassignment of Banda MP Ahmed Ibrahim. Ibrahim will transition from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs to take over the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources.

Additionally, the President has nominated Klottey Korle MP, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, as the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation-designate.

All nominations remain subject to parliamentary approval.
