At least eight people—among them four children—sustained injuries on Thursday when their passenger vehicle overturned on the Tema–Akosombo Highway after a rear tyre burst.
The accident occurred at Teye-Kwame and prompted a swift response from personnel at the Kpong Fire Station, according to a statement from the Eastern Regional Public Relations Office of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Officials reported that the driver of a Toyota Hiace minibus lost control of the vehicle when one of its rear tyres blew out, causing the bus to somersault off the road. Firefighters arriving at the scene worked quickly to extract all eight occupants—four adults and four children—from the wreckage before handing them over to emergency medical responders.
The injured victims were subsequently transported to King’s and Queens Hospital for medical attention. As of now, authorities have not officially disclosed the severity of their injuries.
