Residents of Assin Fosu Habitat in the Central Region are reeling from the sudden death of Emmanuel Kofi Quanoo, a private school teacher whose passing has sent shockwaves through the community.
Mr. Quanoo taught at Assin Dompim Academy Basic School and supplemented his income by working as a taxi driver. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters. Friends and colleagues have described him as diligent and committed to both his profession and his family.
According to sources at the school, Mr. Quanoo had been absent from work for a period before recently resuming his duties. On the day of the incident, he reportedly carried out his teaching responsibilities but left the school premises around midday, shortly after the second break. He is said to have informed fellow staff members that he was feeling unwell and needed to go home for medical attention.
Later that day, he was discovered unresponsive in his room at Assin Fosu. While initial reports suggest he may have taken his own life, authorities have not confirmed the cause of death. The matter has since been reported to the police, who have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mr. Quanoo’s two daughters, aged eight and seven, are reported to have found him when they returned home from school. The children raised the alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours and leading to police involvement.
