President Donald Trump delivered an unexpected political moment on Wednesday when he publicly endorsed boxer and social media personality Jake Paul—despite the fact that Paul is not currently running for any political office.
Speaking at a rally in Hebron, Kentucky, Trump invited Paul onto the stage and praised him enthusiastically before the crowd. The president described the 29-year-old influencer and professional boxer as a “great guy,” applauding both his courage and fighting spirit.
“I give him my complete and total endorsement,” Trump said, predicting that Paul could eventually pursue public office. “I think he’s going to run for something in the not-too-distant future—and that’s what we want.”
Paul, who first gained fame through online videos and viral content, later transitioned into professional boxing and became one of the sport’s most talked-about personalities. Addressing the audience at the rally, he credited Trump for inspiring a mindset of determination and resilience.

Many Republican leaders have urged Trump to support Cornyn in hopes of avoiding a prolonged and divisive primary battle.
Even as Trump’s approval ratings fluctuate during his second term, his influence remains significant in Republican primaries. Candidates endorsed by the president often gain a substantial advantage among party voters.
The Kentucky event also featured Trump’s endorsement of local Republican candidate Ed Gallrein, who is challenging Representative Thomas Massie in an upcoming primary. Trump sharply criticized Massie, calling him a “complete and total disaster,” while praising Gallrein as a “true American hero.”
The rally underscored Trump’s continuing role as a powerful political kingmaker—capable of shaping Republican contests while also injecting unexpected personalities into the political spotlight.
