Bills Strengthen Offense by Trading for Star Receiver DJ Moore

The Buffalo Bills have secured a major offensive addition after agreeing to acquire wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, according to reports from ESPN. The trade provides quarterback Josh Allen with a new top receiving target as the team prepares for the upcoming NFL season.

Under the terms of the deal, Buffalo will send a 2026 second-round draft pick to Chicago. In return, the Bills will receive Moore along with a 2026 fifth-round selection. The move reflects Buffalo’s effort to strengthen its receiving corps after an inconsistent performance at the position during the 2025 campaign. The trade will become official when the new NFL league year begins next week.

Financially, Moore remains under a significant contract. His $23.5 million base salary for the 2026 season is fully guaranteed, while the same amount for the 2027 season will also become fully guaranteed soon. Additionally, the Bills will guarantee $15.5 million of Moore’s $23.5 million base salary in 2028. The terms were confirmed by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

The acquisition reunites Moore with Bills head coach Joe Brady, who previously worked with the receiver while serving as offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and most of the 2021 season. Moore enjoyed two productive seasons under Brady, including a 2020 campaign in which he averaged a career-best 18.1 yards per reception and surpassed 1,100 receiving yards.

Buffalo has a history of making bold trades for wide receivers. In 2020, general manager Brandon Beane traded for Stefon Diggs, a move that significantly boosted the team’s passing attack. The addition of Moore is expected to play a similar role in revitalizing the offense.

The Bills’ receiving unit currently includes Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, and Curtis Samuel, but the team lacked a clear No. 1 option following recent roster changes. Moore’s arrival addresses that gap and could help the offense return to a more aggressive passing approach.
