The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Isaac Boafo, popularly known on social media as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false information with intent to cause fear and panic.
According to a statement issued by the police, the arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on TikTok in which Boafo accused four officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi of engaging in inappropriate conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo, a suburb of Kumasi.
The allegations quickly gained widespread attention online, prompting the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ashanti Region to initiate an intelligence-led operation. Acting on gathered intelligence, officers apprehended Boafo and subjected him to questioning.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to creating and sharing the video. He identified himself as a social media content creator and stated that his intention was to generate views and increase online engagement. Police said Boafo conceded that he had no evidence to substantiate the claims made against the officers.
In addition to the allegations concerning the police personnel, Boafo is said to have acknowledged making comments about the President of the Republic for content creation purposes. He reportedly admitted that he could not defend or verify those statements.
The police confirmed that the suspect has been formally charged and remains in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command used the occasion to caution the public about the legal consequences of disseminating false or unverified information, particularly on digital platforms where content can spread rapidly and widely.
In its statement, the Command emphasized that the publication and circulation of false information have the potential to create unnecessary fear and panic, as well as cause reputational harm to individuals and institutions. It warned that individuals found engaging in such conduct would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The incident highlights growing concerns among law enforcement authorities regarding the misuse of social media platforms for sensational content creation, especially when unsubstantiated allegations target public officials or institutions. Police say investigations are continuing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s online activities.
