Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has been elected as the Second Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament—marking a major milestone for Ghana on the continental stage.
The election took place during a parliamentary session in South Africa, where she secured a commanding win over her opponent, polling 131 votes against 51.
The Pan-African Parliament, an organ of the African Union, plays a key role in promoting unity, cooperation, and legislative development among member states. In her new position as Second Vice President, Zanetor Rawlings will serve on the Parliament’s Bureau, helping to shape leadership decisions and guide its activities.
Her victory is widely seen as a boost for Ghana’s diplomatic influence in Africa and a significant step forward for female representation in continental leadership.
Daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Zanetor has served as a legislator since 2017. She is recognized for her contributions to governance, security, and social development.
Her new role places her at the forefront of efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and advance the African Union’s vision across the continent.
