"My Distance from Church Isn't a Fight with God" – Kelvyn Boy Opens Up on His Disappointment

Ghanaian musician Kelvyn Boy has sparked public conversation after expressing his growing disconnection from the church, revealing that it no longer resonates with him the way it once did.

In a candid interview, he clarified that his shift in perspective isn't due to a "fight with God." Rather, he said his views have evolved after observing the behaviors and practices within the modern church environment.

Kelvyn Boy explained that both church leaders and members have influenced his current stance. He pointed out the disparity between the church’s teachings and the actions of some pastors and congregants. While he acknowledged that some pastors are doing meaningful work, he criticized others for falling short in their leadership and actions.

He also touched on the attitudes of certain church members, calling out the judgmental behavior, particularly when people judge others based on appearance or social status.

“I feel like pastors should share what they have and support others, but I don’t see that happening,” he said. “And then, the churchgoers—how they act before and after service, how they treat others—it doesn’t align with the values that the church promotes.”

For Kelvyn Boy, these experiences have reshaped how he views the church, and he believes the true meaning of the church is getting lost in its current structure and practices.

Despite his concerns, the former Seventh-day Adventist member expressed that he's still open to change and would consider returning if he sees improvements in how Christianity is practiced and organized.
