Four Arrested Over Robbery Attack on Okada Rider in Fomena


 

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with a violent robbery involving an okada rider in Fomena in the Ashanti Region.


According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Saturday, 28 February 2026, the incident occurred on 22 February 2026. The victim reported to the Fomena Police Station with a machete wound to his left toe.

The rider told police he was ambushed while returning from Old Ayaase after dropping off a passenger. He alleged that approximately ten tricycle riders had blocked a section of the road using their tricycles and other objects.

Police stated that the group attacked the victim, inflicted a machete wound on his leg, and made away with his unregistered Haojin motorbike, valued at GH¢15,000.

Acting swiftly on the report, officers arrested Adom Peter, Abdul Zakari, Andy Benjamin, and one juvenile suspect within Fomena township on the same day to assist with investigations.

During the operation, police recovered the victim’s motorbike, a machete believed to have been used in the attack, a tricycle, and its ignition keys.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has assured the public of its continued vigilance and reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing all individuals involved in the robbery as investigations continue.
