Former Deputy CEO of the Public Procurement Authority, , is raising concerns about how the government is handling communication around Ghana’s ongoing power outages, popularly known as dumsor.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day and monitored by , Prempeh said the explanations being given to Ghanaians keep changing—and it’s creating doubt.
According to him, the government needs to be more transparent and consistent about what’s really causing the intermittent power supply.
“The government must just be honest about this issue. We are going through intermittent power supply, which we call dumsor,” he stated.
Prempeh noted that several reasons have been given over time, including transformer upgrades, transmission line challenges, and scheduled maintenance works.
However, he questioned whether these explanations truly reflect the full situation.
“These upgrades and maintenance works are not new—they’ve always existed. So we must be clear about what is really happening,” he added.
He stressed that public trust depends heavily on honesty and clear communication, especially on an issue that affects everyday life across the country.
