Legal Bombshell: Stephen K. Bannon Conviction on the Brink as Supreme Court of the United States Steps In - Stage 2

Stage 2: Trump’s Record-Breaking Defense Budget Sparks Backlash

Simultaneously, the Trump administration has unveiled a sweeping budget proposal, requesting approximately $1.5 trillion in defense spending for 2027—the highest in modern U.S. history. The plan comes amid ongoing global conflicts, including tensions in the Middle East, and reflects a sharp prioritization of military strength.

To offset costs, the proposal includes $73 billion in cuts to domestic programs, targeting sectors such as healthcare, education, housing, and climate initiatives. Many of these programs benefit low-income and minority communities, drawing criticism from both Democrats and some Republicans.

Lawmakers have expressed concern over the potential impact on the national debt, already nearing $39 trillion, as well as the social consequences of reduced public services. Despite the controversy, the budget serves as a clear signal of Trump’s policy direction—emphasizing defense and immigration enforcement over domestic spending.
