“There Is Ranking in the Spirit” — Kingsley Okonkwo Responds to Tattoo Criticism

Lagos-based cleric Kingsley Okonkwo has addressed recent criticism from fellow ministers regarding his tattoo, expressing disappointment over what he described as condemnation from “junior pastors.”

Speaking during a sermon, the pastor stated that he felt disrespected by ministers he believes lack the spiritual authority to question his personal decisions. According to him, most of the critics failed to categorically describe tattoos as sinful, instead debating whether it was appropriate for a pastor to publicly display one.

Okonkwo argued that even basic Christian doctrine does not define tattoos as a sin. He noted that many of his critics relied on interpretations centered on whether his action was “expedient” rather than explicitly unbiblical.

Emphasizing the concept of hierarchy within spiritual leadership, he maintained that there is “ranking in the spirit,” suggesting that some of the backlash stemmed more from religious rigidity than from doctrinal clarity.

His remarks have since generated mixed reactions, with supporters defending his stance and others questioning his comments on spiritual hierarchy.
