Kylian Mbappé Calls for UEFA Ban After Alleged Racism Incident Involving Vinícius Júnior

Kylian Mbappé has urged UEFA to take firm disciplinary action against Gianluca Prestianni following an alleged racist incident involving teammate Vinícius Júnior.

The incident reportedly occurred during Real Madrid’s 1–0 victory over Benfica in the first leg of the 2026 UEFA Champions League knockout phase playoffs at the Estádio da Luz.

Shortly after scoring the decisive goal, Vinícius Júnior signaled for the activation of the anti-racism protocol, alleging that Prestianni directed racist remarks toward him. The match was briefly halted before resuming.

Speaking after the game, Mbappé strongly condemned the alleged abuse and called for a lifetime ban from the competition. He stressed the importance of setting a positive example for young fans and reaffirmed the team’s solidarity with Vinícius.

Mbappé clarified that his criticism was directed solely at the player involved, not Benfica or its coaching staff. UEFA is expected to review the incident as investigations continue.
