Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi Announces Stage 1 Cervical Cancer Diagnosis

Reality television personality Nicole Polizzi, widely known as “Snooki” from the MTV series Jersey Shore, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer.

The 38-year-old mother of three shared the news in a video posted to TikTok, describing it as an update on her ongoing health journey. In the video, Polizzi explained that she had recently undergone a cone biopsy and was heading to a post-operative appointment when she decided to inform her followers about the results.

According to Polizzi, the biopsy confirmed stage 1 cervical cancer, specifically adenocarcinoma. While acknowledging that the diagnosis was not what she had hoped for, she expressed gratitude that the cancer was detected at an early stage.

“Obviously not the news that I was hoping for,” she said in the video, “but also not the worst news just because they caught it so early.”

Understanding the Diagnosis

A cone biopsy, also known as conization, is a procedure in which surgeons remove a cone-shaped section of abnormal tissue from the cervix for laboratory analysis. The procedure is often recommended after abnormal Pap smear results to determine whether precancerous or cancerous cells are present.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, the removed tissue is tested to assess the presence and extent of disease. The Mayo Clinic defines cervical adenocarcinoma as a type of cervical cancer that begins in the glandular cells lining the cervical canal.

Polizzi revealed that she has experienced abnormal Pap smear results for the past three to four years. She used her platform to encourage women to remain proactive about their health by attending regular screenings.

“I’m literally telling you guys to get your Pap smears done,” she urged, emphasizing that fear or discomfort should not prevent women from seeking timely medical care. She noted that early detection played a critical role in identifying her condition at a treatable stage.

Next Steps in Treatment

Polizzi stated that she will consult with an oncologist and undergo a PET scan to determine whether the cancer has spread beyond the cervix. Depending on the findings, she anticipates undergoing a hysterectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the uterus and cervix. She indicated that she plans to retain her ovaries, if possible, and mentioned that chemotherapy or radiation therapy may be considered as alternative treatment options if necessary.

“2025 is not panning out the way that I wanted it to,” she reflected, “but it could be worse.”

Her candid disclosure has drawn widespread support from fans and fellow public figures, many of whom praised her openness and advocacy for preventive care. By sharing her experience, Polizzi has amplified awareness about cervical cancer and underscored the importance of routine screenings in achieving early diagnosis and improving treatment outcomes.
