Nigerian socialite Rahman Jago has publicly confirmed that Grammy Award–winning artist Burna Boy has converted to Islam.
Speculation about the singer’s religious affiliation began weeks ago after he disclosed during a podcast interview that he had embraced Islam “at some point” in his personal search for truth. Raised in a Christian household, Burna Boy’s remarks sparked widespread conversation among fans and commentators, with many seeking clarity about his spiritual journey.
The discussion intensified after Rahman Jago shared a video clip on his X (formerly Twitter) account. In the footage, Burna Boy is seen alongside Jago and several other men in what appeared to be a relaxed social setting, audibly praising Allah. Jago captioned the video “Allahu Akbar,” a phrase in Arabic meaning “God is Greatest,” further fueling public interest.
The clip was subsequently reposted by Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari. Reacting to the development, Ahmad commented that the singer appeared joyful and offered prayers for Allah to make his journey in Islam easy and fulfilling.
In the comment section of the reposted video, a follower asked Ahmad directly whether Burna Boy had indeed converted to Islam. Ahmad responded by noting that some of the artist’s close associates had indicated that he had embraced the faith, although Burna Boy himself had not yet issued a formal public confirmation at that time.
Rahman Jago later provided a more definitive response. Quoting the question about the singer’s religious status, he stated plainly: “He converted. He is now a Muslim.”
