A Nigerian man has sparked widespread reactions online after emotionally recounting the challenges of raising his newborn child alone.
The distraught father revealed that his girlfriend allegedly abandoned him with their baby barely two weeks after childbirth, leaving him to shoulder the full responsibility of caring for the infant. According to him, the sudden situation took a heavy emotional and physical toll.
In a viral video shared on TikTok, the man explained that the baby cried persistently, making it extremely difficult for him to work, rest, or function normally. The pressure, he said, pushed him into making a decision he never imagined he would face.
He disclosed that out of frustration and exhaustion, he took the two-week-old baby to an orphanage, hoping to regain some stability in his life. However, the decision quickly became an emotional burden.
According to the father, the night he returned home without his child was unbearable. He struggled with guilt and regret and was unable to sleep. The following day, he returned to the orphanage to bring his baby back home, admitting that he could not live with the thought of abandoning his own child.
The man further appealed to women and the general public for assistance, stating that he urgently needs help caring for the newborn as he navigates single parenthood.
The video has generated mixed reactions online. While many social media users expressed sympathy, encouragement, and prayers, others cautioned that parenting responsibilities should not be treated lightly or reduced to emotional desperation.
One commenter noted that raising a child alone is a serious challenge and hoped the man would receive genuine support. Another remarked that the situation highlights the often-overlooked realities of single fatherhood.
The incident has continued to spark conversations about parental responsibility, mental health, and the need for stronger support systems for struggling parents.
