Former England and Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has pleaded not guilty to allegations of breaching a non-molestation order involving his ex-wife, Billi Mucklow, following an appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
The 37-year-old footballer, who currently plays for National League South side Dagenham & Redbridge, was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on 4 March.
Alleged Breach and Court Proceedings
Carroll was arrested in April 2025 in connection with an incident alleged to have taken place the previous month. He was subsequently charged with breaching a non-molestation order—an injunction intended to prevent contact or communication with a protected individual.
Prosecutors claim that Carroll repeatedly contacted Mucklow, actions that would constitute a breach of the order. However, during the hearing, Carroll entered a plea of not guilty.
The former striker arrived at court on crutches after undergoing surgery on a recent leg injury. Deputy District Judge Roy Brown granted bail under strict conditions, including a continued prohibition on contacting Mucklow. The judge warned that any violation of the order could result in arrest and detention.
If convicted, Carroll could face penalties ranging from a fine to a prison sentence of up to five years.
Career Background and Current Status
Carroll began his professional career at Newcastle United, where he played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2010. His form earned him a high-profile move to Liverpool, though his time at Anfield was challenging, with six goals scored in 44 appearances.
He later joined West Ham United, initially on loan before completing a permanent transfer in 2013. Carroll also had subsequent spells with Newcastle United, Reading, and West Bromwich Albion, as well as stints in France with Amiens and Bordeaux.
In 2025, he returned to England to sign for Dagenham & Redbridge. Carroll has earned nine senior caps for England and has made 13 league appearances for the club this season.
Injury Setback and Next Hearing
Carroll is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a leg injury. He confirmed the success of the procedure in a social media post, stating that surgery on his fracture and ligaments had gone well and that he hoped to return to action as soon as possible.
The case will continue when Carroll appears before Chelmsford Crown Court on 4 March.
