The Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has called on students to view education not merely as a pathway to academic success, but as a lifelong journey that liberates the mind and empowers individuals to serve humanity with purpose and integrity.
Speaking as Chairman at the 75th Anniversary Grand Durbar of Mawuli School in Ho, Togbe Afede emphasized that true education must develop the head, heart, and hand, nurturing creativity, innovation, and compassion in equal measure.
“Education must go beyond the classroom,” he stated. “It should liberate the minds of our young people and equip them with creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills. True education must shape individuals who think deeply, act purposefully, and serve humanity with compassion.”
He urged students to embrace hard work, discipline, and dedication, reminding them that learning is a lifelong journey that extends far beyond formal schooling.
“Self-confidence and independence are values every young person must cultivate to make a meaningful impact in today’s world,” he added.
Call for Sustainability and Institutional Growth
Addressing the importance of sustainability, Togbe Afede highlighted the need for establishing and maintaining an endowment fund to secure the financial future of Mawuli School. He recalled contributing to the initiative years ago and appealed to members of the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU) and other stakeholders to strengthen the fund to support the school’s ongoing growth and development.
As a mark of his continued commitment, Togbe Afede announced a personal donation of GH¢20,000 to the endowment fund, reaffirming his belief in collective responsibility and shared investment in the school’s progress.
Celebrating 75 Years of Excellence
The Agbogbomefia commended Mawuli School for maintaining a legacy of excellence over the past seven and a half decades. He praised its alumni for their achievements, which he said reflect the school’s enduring influence and the transformative power of education.
“The accomplishments of its past students stand as a testament to the school’s lasting legacy,” Togbe Afede remarked. “As we celebrate this milestone, may we continue to raise generations of leaders who think critically, act responsibly, and serve humanity with integrity and excellence.”
