Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed strong confidence that he will secure at least 90 percent of delegate votes in the Tano North Constituency during the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
Speaking to delegates on the first day of his Ahafo Region campaign tour on Sunday, October 26, Dr. Bawumia thanked party members for their unwavering support during the 2023 primaries, where he garnered 84 percent of votes in Tano North — the constituency of his spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako.
“I am excited to be back home. I want to thank you for the massive support you gave me in 2023. I know you will do even better in 2026. This time round, I expect nothing less than 90 percent because a win for me is a win for Tano North,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
His campaign tour, which also covered the Tano South and Asutifi North constituencies, forms part of a broader nationwide engagement aimed at consolidating his grassroots base ahead of the primaries.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that his campaign is built on three key pillars — unity, innovation, and continuity — adding that Ghana’s economic growth and development depend heavily on strengthening private sector participation, particularly in infrastructure development.
“The private sector is key to bridging our infrastructure gap. The government must focus on connecting our communities through feeder and inter-town roads while encouraging private investment in major national projects,” he noted.
He further pledged to promote inclusive governance by empowering local communities to play a more active role in national decision-making, ensuring that development reflects the needs and aspirations of all Ghanaians.
