Hassan Ayariga’s Toyota V8 Involved in Serious Crash at Ashaiman Overhead

A major road accident occurred on Friday afternoon at the Ashaiman Overhead involving a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 (registration number GN 76-16) belonging to the founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, and a commercial vehicle (registration number GS 3642-12).

Eyewitness Accounts

According to eyewitnesses, the collision happened during heavy traffic congestion when an ambulance transporting a deceased person, accompanied by a police escort, attempted to navigate through the jam. The Toyota V8, reportedly traveling at high speed, collided with the commercial vehicle before veering off the road and plunging into a nearby gutter.

Victims and Conflicting Reports

The driver of the commercial vehicle, Frank Amoah, recounted that he had stopped to allow the ambulance and its escort to pass when the Toyota V8 suddenly crashed into the rear of his vehicle. His assistant sustained injuries and was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.

In contrast, the driver of the Toyota V8 gave a different version of events. He claimed that one of the police motor escort riders struck his car while attempting to clear the traffic. In an effort to avoid hitting the officer, he swerved, lost control, and collided with the commercial vehicle.

Statement from Hassan Ayariga

Confirming the incident, Mr. Ayariga revealed that he was en route to an event when he received news about the crash involving his driver. He described the development as “shocking and deeply distressing.”

Ongoing Investigation

Both vehicles have since been towed from the scene. The driver of the Toyota V8 is currently receiving medical attention. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision amid the chaotic traffic situation at the time.
