Parliament’s Appointments Committee will on Monday, November 10, 2025, vet Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie following his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama as the next Chief Justice of Ghana.
An official statement from Parliament confirmed that the vetting session will commence at 11:00 a.m. in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3 of the New Administration Block.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s nomination, made in accordance with Article 144(1) of the 1992 Constitution, requires parliamentary approval before he can assume office.
The Appointments Committee will assess the nominee’s professional competence, judicial philosophy, integrity, and preparedness to lead the judiciary, particularly at a time when public confidence in the justice system is of paramount importance.
Following the vetting, the committee will present its report to the Parliamentary plenary for debate and a final decision.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, a distinguished Supreme Court Judge, is widely respected for his expertise in constitutional and criminal law. His nomination follows the suspension of former Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
