OMSU President Commends Mawuli School 2000 Year Group for Renovating White Block

The National President of the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU), Mr. Richard Buthelezi Nyarko, has expressed profound appreciation to the Mawuli School 2000 Year Group for their exceptional renovation of the school’s iconic White Block.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, which coincided with Mawuli School’s 75th anniversary and the 25th anniversary celebration of the 2000 Year Group, Mr. Nyarko described the project as a monumental and exemplary act of service to their alma mater.

“This is your new White Block — arguably the most beautiful edifice on this side of campus,” he remarked, commending the group’s dedication and vision.

He emphasized that the renovated facility stands as a legacy project that reflects the group’s unwavering commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped their formative years.

Mr. Nyarko also appealed to the school administration and students to maintain the newly refurbished block.

“All they ask is that you maintain it. We don’t want to come back two, three, or five years from now and see this building in decay. Please, take care of it,” he urged.

Conveying a message from the 2000 Year Group, he added:

“This is from your children of 2000. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to give back to our alma mater.”

The renovation, valued at GH₵450,000, was funded through contributions from members of the 2000 Year Group, alongside support from organizations such as Stanbic Bank and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

President of the 2000 Year Group, Mr. Divine Ackuaku, credited the project’s success to the group’s unity and shared sense of purpose.

“We are one of the most united groups,” he stated, referencing their anniversary theme, ‘Daring Forward, Leaving No One Behind.’

Mr. Ackuaku revealed that the group plans to undertake additional projects, including improvements to dormitories and the school’s computer laboratory.

“When we turn 30, we’ll come back again and do more,” he affirmed.

Headmaster Mr. Benjamin Yawo Dei expressed gratitude to OMSU and the 2000 Year Group, pledging the school’s commitment to maintaining the facility. He noted that the renovated White Block would significantly enhance teaching and learning outcomes on campus.
