Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has expressed the deep shock her family is experiencing following the sudden passing of her mother, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
Speaking when she received former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his delegation at the family residence on Friday, October 24, Dr. Zanetor described the loss as devastating and difficult to comprehend.
“Your Excellency, former First Lady, distinguished delegation, on behalf of my siblings and the entire family, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to you for the love and support you have shown us.
This was very sudden. I think most of us are still processing the situation,” she said.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on Thursday, October 23, at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, where she was receiving treatment for a short illness. She was 76 years old.
The government has since declared a three-day national mourning period in her honour, directing that all national flags be flown at half-mast throughout the duration of the observance.
Nana Konadu was widely respected for her role in Ghanaian politics and advocacy for women’s empowerment. Her passing has drawn an outpouring of tributes from political figures, civil society, and the international community.
