Former MP for Assin Central and NPP flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has blamed internal propaganda for the party’s poor performance in the 2024 elections.
He noted that some party members focused on spreading falsehoods and personal attacks during the campaign instead of promoting their policies to Ghanaians. Speaking to delegates in Gushegu, he warned against repeating these mistakes, which could prolong the party’s stay in opposition.
“Instead of telling the people what they can do for them, some are still engaging in propaganda. They did the same thing, and we lost miserably. If they want us to lose again, then they should continue with that,” Mr. Agyapong said.
He also addressed rumors that he abandoned the party after losing the 2023 flagbearer race, explaining that he supported parliamentary candidates financially and with logistics.
“When I lost the election, I campaigned for our candidate and the party. I visited constituencies, gave candidates GH₵100,000, and provided streetlights, sewing machines, and necklaces to support their work,” he revealed.
Despite his contributions, he expressed disappointment that no party member had acknowledged his efforts after the defeat.
