The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced the termination of licenses for 278 small-scale mining companies across the country.
According to the Minister, the decision was taken due to multiple regulatory breaches and the expiration of operational licenses that were not renewed in accordance with Ghana’s mining laws.
This action, he explained, forms part of the government’s broader effort to sanitize the small-scale mining sector, curb illegal mining activities, and protect the environment from further degradation.
The government remains committed to enforcing mining regulations while promoting responsible and sustainable practices within the industry.
