Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections, has emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes as the party repositions itself for the future.
In a social media post following the NPP’s ongoing National “Thank You” Tour in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh—popularly known as Napo—highlighted the party’s commitment to introspection and growth. He noted that after leaving power, the NPP is taking time to reflect on its previous missteps in order to build a stronger and more united front.
“It was especially important to reconnect and feel the pulse of the party. While expressing our gratitude, we are also importantly, reflecting and learning from past mistakes as we chart the way forward,” he stated.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh reiterated that unity remains central to the NPP’s vision. He pledged his full support to initiatives aimed at strengthening internal cohesion, which he sees as critical to effectively opposing the current NDC administration and presenting a credible alternative to the electorate in 2028.
“Unity, clearly, is the resonating theme everywhere we go,” he said. “I am fully committed to supporting every effort to ensure that the party remains united—not only to provide a formidable opposition to the NDC government, but to present ourselves as the superior alternative to the Ghanaian electorate come 2028.”
