Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly prioritizing a move for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman over Liverpool's Luis Díaz as the club seeks to strengthen its attack this summer.
Lookman, 27, has been in stellar form for Atalanta, contributing 50 goals and 22 assists in 111 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performances have drawn interest from top European clubs, including both Barcelona and Liverpool.
Although Lookman was linked with a transfer away from Atalanta last summer, with Paris Saint-Germain showing notable interest, the move ultimately did not materialize. Now, with Barcelona in need of attacking reinforcements, Flick sees Lookman as an ideal fit for his high-pressing, dynamic style of play.
However, Barcelona’s financial limitations may complicate the potential deal. Lookman is valued between €60 million and €70 million, and Atalanta is unlikely to entertain the staggered payment plan that Barcelona may prefer due to their financial constraints. Nevertheless, a resolution could be reached if Barcelona can find a feasible financial solution.
Alongside Barcelona, Lookman has also piqued the interest of Premier League clubs, with Arsenal reportedly considering a move. However, after less successful spells in England, a move to La Liga could provide Lookman with a fresh start in a system that better suits his attacking abilities.
