Ghana is set to welcome His Excellency Petr Pavel, the President of the Czech Republic, for a three-day state visit from April 8 to 10, 2025. This visit is of historic significance, marking the first time a Czech leader has visited Ghana since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ghana and Czechoslovakia in October 1959.
A statement from the Presidency’s Communications Office confirmed that President John Dramani Mahama will officially receive President Pavel, making this the first state visit under Mahama’s leadership since his return to office in January 2025.
During his stay in Ghana, President Pavel will engage in high-level discussions with President Mahama, aiming to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. Additionally, the Czech leader is scheduled to address a business forum, inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility, and visit historic landmarks such as Osu Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Spokesperson to President Mahama and Minister for Government Communications, highlighted the significance of the visit, stating, “President Mahama will host a State Dinner in honour of the visiting Head of State.”
This state visit is expected to enhance both economic and diplomatic ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic, paving the way for greater collaboration in various sectors.
