ASEM ABA: Anthony Joshua’s Trainer Latz Killed in Tragic Nigerian Car Crash

The boxing world is mourning the loss of Latz, personal trainer to former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who died in a fatal car accident in Nigeria less than 24 hours after arriving in the country.

Initial reports indicated that Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. While Joshua reportedly escaped with minor injuries, the crash resulted in the deaths of two people.

Available details suggest that the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and his team collided with a stationary truck on the highway. The accident is believed to have been caused by excessive speed and improper overtaking.

The death of Latz was first confirmed by three-division world boxing champion Badou Jack, who shared the devastating news on Instagram. Expressing deep shock and sorrow, Jack offered prayers for the late trainer, writing: “Still in shock. May Allah forgive you for your shortcomings and grant you the highest level of paradise.”

Further confirmation came from ACD MMA, which disclosed that the two victims who lost their lives were Latz and Sina—both close friends and long-time coaches of Anthony Joshua. Sina served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach and had recently been seen training him ahead of a bout with Jake Paul just two weeks before the tragic incident.

The sudden deaths of the two coaches have sent shockwaves throughout the global boxing community, with tributes pouring in to honor their dedication and the vital roles they played in Anthony Joshua’s career.
