Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal is making the most of his Christmas break by spending time in Dubai, where the club is enjoying a mid-season pause. The teenage forward travelled to the UAE with his family ahead of the Globe Soccer Awards gala scheduled for December 28, an event that will also be attended by Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Away from the spotlight and red-carpet appearances, Yamal took time to enjoy the city in a relaxed setting. During one of his outings along Dubai’s coastline, the 18-year-old noticed a group of children playing beach football and surprised them by personally asking to join their game. What began as a brief stop to watch quickly turned into a memorable experience for the youngsters.

Joined by a few close friends, the Barcelona No.10 played barefoot on the sand, effortlessly displaying his trademark close control, flair, and dribbling ability. Although the game was informal and played at a relaxed pace, Yamal’s natural quality was evident as he remained fully engaged, entertained the children, and clearly enjoyed the moment.

The highlight came when he capped the kickabout with a well-taken goal, sending the children into excitement as they realised they were sharing the pitch with one of world football’s brightest young talents. After the game, Yamal took time to pose for photos, ensuring the youngsters left with lasting memories of an extraordinary day.

Yamal still has a few days left to rest and recharge in Dubai before returning to Spain. He is scheduled to rejoin his Barcelona teammates on Monday, December 29, when the squad will hold an open training session at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in preparation for the second half of the season.

The year 2025 has already been outstanding for the Spanish international. He won a domestic treble with Barcelona, finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings, lifted the Kopa Trophy, and earned a place in FIFA’s The Best Men’s World XI. Despite missing several matches this season due to pubalgia, Yamal has recorded nine goals and 11 assists in 20 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his growing influence at the highest level.

Barcelona are also reportedly planning to secure his long-term future with a new five-year contract extension that includes a significant salary increase. The proposed deal reflects both his exceptional performances and his status as one of the club’s most valuable assets, widely seen as a potential heir to Lionel Messi’s legacy.
