Nigerian actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has weighed in on the subject of fidelity and gender expectations, challenging the widely held belief that men are more likely to cheat than women.
Speaking on a recent episode of her *Toke Moments* podcast, Makinwa stated that infidelity is not automatically a dealbreaker for her, though she clarified that her stance is often misunderstood.
“Cheating is not a dealbreaker for me, but it comes with a caveat. When I say that, some people think I’m encouraging cheating. That is not the case,” she explained.
According to Makinwa, personal growth and maturity have reshaped her perspective on the issue, particularly the long-standing narrative that places men at the center of discussions on infidelity.
“As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that cheating is not exclusive to men. Why do we make it seem as though only men are capable of it?” she asked.
She further argued that women often have more opportunities to cheat, even though this reality is rarely acknowledged publicly.
“Do you know how easy it is for a woman to cheat? In many cases, it’s actually easier for women. Men often have to spend money, time, and effort to cheat,” Makinwa said.
The media personality suggested that faithfulness among women is often a matter of self-control rather than lack of opportunity.
“A woman not cheating is not because she can’t. It’s probably because she has something many people lack—strength,” she noted.
Concluding her remarks, Makinwa pointed out that discretion plays a significant role in how female infidelity is perceived.
“Women cheat more, but they know how to hide it,” she added.
Her comments have since sparked conversations online about honesty, accountability, and the double standards often associated with relationships and infidelity.
