The Ministry of Finance and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have reached a mutual agreement to resolve outstanding issues relating to Ghana’s US$750 million financing facility signed in 2022.
The development was announced by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson in a social media statement, in which he confirmed that all concerns surrounding the facility have been addressed to the satisfaction of both parties.
“The Government of the Republic of Ghana, acting through the Ministry of Finance, and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) are pleased to announce the successful resolution of the issues surrounding the US$750 million facility signed in 2022,” the minister stated.
According to Mr Forson, the resolution paves the way for the Ministry of Finance and Afreximbank to sustain their collaborative relationship and continue working together in support of Ghana’s development objectives.
He added that the outcome of the discussions enables both institutions to strengthen their partnership in advancing the country’s economic and development agenda.
The US$750 million facility, which was executed in 2022, had been the subject of negotiations between the government and Afreximbank. The minister’s statement confirms that these engagements have now concluded with an agreement acceptable to both sides.
