Veteran Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has petitioned the Ghana Police Service following allegations made by controversial prophet Fire Oja regarding her alleged involvement in a so-called “soul travel” experience.
The petition was filed on Monday, December 29, 2025, after Fire Oja and a woman who claimed to be Mzbel’s former personal assistant made public assertions about the singer’s spiritual encounter with spiritual leader Ola Maame. The allegations have since generated widespread debate on social media.
The controversy follows an interview Ola Maame granted to media personality Fiifi Pratt on Aluta FM, during which she addressed accusations leveled against her by Fire Oja, a former member of her church. Fire Oja accused Ola Maame of engaging in fraudulent spiritual practices and exploiting unsuspecting individuals. During a TikTok live session with traditional priest Kwaku Bonsam, he further alleged that Ola Maame had defrauded some individuals living in the United Kingdom and proceeded to issue curses against her.
Fire Oja also claimed that Mzbel suffered severe health complications and was hospitalized after visiting Ola Maame’s shrine in Kasoa earlier in 2025 for a “soul travel” experience. These claims were reportedly supported by a young woman presented as the singer’s former personal assistant.
Mzbel has strongly denied all the allegations. The outspoken musician, who has previously expressed skepticism about Christianity and the existence of God, stated that she was never hospitalized following her visit to Ola Maame. She challenged those spreading the claims to provide credible evidence to support their assertions.
According to Mzbel, she has no interest in engaging in prolonged public disputes and emphasized that she has learned about traditional healing practices from several priests and prophets over the years. She maintained that her visit to Ola Maame did not result in any adverse health consequences.
In a TikTok video shared on December 29, 2025, Mzbel disclosed that the woman claiming to be her former employee had been arrested after allegedly making threats against her child and spreading false information about her. She explained that the woman was later granted bail after pleading for forgiveness and was instructed by the police to retract her statements online.
However, Mzbel alleged that the woman was re-arrested after refusing to show remorse following an alleged conversation with a prophet widely believed to be Fire Oja.
The singer further revealed that she has filed an additional petition against the prophet, whose name she declined to mention directly. She stated that the individual would soon be invited by the Ghana Police Service for questioning and could face legal action in court.
Mzbel’s decision to involve law enforcement has sparked mixed reactions among Ghanaians on social media, with some praising her for seeking legal redress, while others questioned the ongoing spiritual disputes.
The matter remains under investigation as the Ghana Police Service prepares to invite all relevant parties for further inquiry.
