Team Ghana has secured eight medals on Day 3 of the inaugural West Africa Zone A & B Para Games currently taking place in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

In para powerlifting, Tahiru Haruna earned a bronze medal in the 72kg–107kg category, while Isaac Obeng claimed silver in the 59kg division. Daniel Kankam added another bronze in the 65kg class, bringing Ghana’s total in the discipline to three medals.

Ghana also excelled in para shooting, where Isaac Adopleh reached the podium twice, winning a silver medal in one event and a bronze in another across the pistol and rifle competitions.

The para badminton contingent contributed three additional medals.

  • Akosua Nkansah won bronze in the Wheelchair 1 Women’s Singles.
  • Hayford Kwame Adasi earned bronze in the Wheelchair 1 Men’s Singles.
  • Atta Owusu captured bronze in the Standing Upper 5 event.

With these achievements, Ghana’s medal tally now stands at eight, with more opportunities ahead.

The team is scheduled to compete next in Armwrestling and Sitting Volleyball on Monday as the Games continue until December 4.
