Fuel Prices to Increase by 3% Starting December 1 — COMAC

Fuel prices in Ghana are set to rise by approximately 3% starting today, December 1, 2025, according to a recent forecast from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC). The rise in prices follows an assessment of global market trends and domestic economic conditions.

COMAC's latest outlook report indicates that petrol prices are expected to increase by between 1.97% and 3.30%, bringing the pump price to around GH¢12.91 per litre. Diesel is projected to rise by 2.85% to 5.15%, with the price potentially reaching GH¢13.37 per litre. Additionally, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) may rise by up to 3.10% per kilogram, pushing it to GH¢13.80 per kg.

The report attributed these price hikes to two main factors: rising international prices of refined petroleum products and pressure on the Ghanaian cedi. Over recent weeks, international prices for petrol, diesel, and LPG have seen increases of 1.26%, 2.28%, and 0.07%, respectively. The price of diesel, in particular, is expected to climb further due to uncertainties surrounding supply.

COMAC also highlighted the depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi as a significant factor contributing to the price increases. Over the past two weeks, the cedi weakened from GH¢10.94 to GH¢11.14, marking a 1.76% depreciation. Analysts suggest that this decline is driven by higher corporate demand for foreign exchange and typical end-of-year financial pressures.

Duncan Amoah, Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), stated that future fuel price adjustments will largely depend on the performance of the cedi in the coming weeks, adding that the exchange rate will play a crucial role in determining fuel costs for the rest of the year.
