*GPL: Medeama Coach Ibrahim Tanko Expresses Disappointment After Draw with Kotoko

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his frustration after his team squandered a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw against Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Tanko described the outcome as "very painful," following a dramatic late equalizer by Kotoko.

The Tarkwa-based side took an early advantage with goals in the 5th and 18th minutes, courtesy of Derrick Fordjour and Yusif Mubarik. However, Kotoko fought back in the second half, with Peter Amidu Acquah pulling one back, before captain Samba “O’Neil” Gilbani’s header in the dying seconds (92nd minute) leveled the score.

Speaking after the match, Tanko expressed his disappointment over the team’s inability to secure all three points.

“We had a very good first half, leading 2-0, but in the end, we lost concentration,” Tanko lamented. “Conceding a goal in the 92nd minute from a set piece is very painful. Unfortunately, we didn’t take the three points, but I think we can live with this result.”

The draw further complicates matters for Kotoko, who have now managed only one win in their last six matches, continuing their struggle in the ongoing season.

Medeama’s players celebrated their two goals, but the late equalizer from Kotoko left Tanko and his team wondering what might have been.
