NEIP CEO Forges Strategic Partnerships in Ohio to Boost Youth Entrepreneurship in Ghana

Mr. Eric Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), recently joined a high-level government delegation to Columbus, Ohio, USA, with the aim of fostering strategic partnerships and attracting investment to strengthen Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Accompanied by Mr. Vincent Ohene-Ntow, NEIP’s Director for Business Support and Development, the delegation focused on promoting Ghanaian-led innovations—especially those tackling critical national development challenges. Their objective was to facilitate sustainable business growth and empower young entrepreneurs through international collaboration.

Key Focus Areas of the Visit Included:

  • Innovation Hub Development: Advancing the establishment and expansion of startup incubation centers to nurture innovation and support entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Modernized Agriculture: Promoting youth-led agribusiness initiatives to boost participation in agriculture using modern techniques.
  • Exchange Programs: Initiating bilateral exchange programs between Ghana and the United States to foster knowledge-sharing and skill development.
  • Access to Funding: Improving financial accessibility for emerging and youth-led enterprises.

The visit also reaffirmed the commitment of President John Mahama’s administration to advancing entrepreneurship through its flagship initiative, The Adwumawura Programme. The NEIP team emphasized the critical role of international cooperation in realizing this vision, calling on development partners, private investors, and institutions to contribute toward building a resilient and inclusive entrepreneurial landscape in Ghana.

The Adwumawura Programme, a central pillar of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto, aims to establish 10,000 youth-led businesses each year. Designed to unlock the potential of young Ghanaian innovators, the programme seeks to catalyze job creation and drive economic transformation.

Support for the First Phase Will Include:

  • Business Development Training: Equipping young entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge.
  • Mentorship: Connecting startups with experienced professionals for guidance.
  • Start-up Capital: Providing initial funding to turn business ideas into reality.
  • Marketing and Networking Platforms: Enhancing visibility and fostering strategic partnerships.

The anticipated outcomes of the Adwumawura Programme include substantial job creation, increased innovation, and meaningful contributions to Ghana’s economic growth. The initiative will be spearheaded by NEIP, which continues to serve as a key government agency for promoting entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses across the nation.

By leveraging global partnerships and investing in local talent, Ghana is steadily establishing itself as a vibrant hub for youth-driven economic development.
