Popular music artists T-Dollar and TobiNation have been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment over charges related to the abuse and mutilation of the Nigerian Naira.
The sentence was delivered on Thursday, May 8, 2025, by the Lagos Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following the duo's guilty plea in court.
Presiding over the case at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Justice Owoeye handed down the sentence with an alternative option of a ₦200,000 fine each.
The EFCC has recently intensified its crackdown on Naira mutilation, a crime that has implicated several Nigerian celebrities. Other notable figures, including controversial singer Portable, actress Iyabo Ojo, and comedian AY Makun, have also faced scrutiny over similar offenses.
The ruling underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of the national currency and discourage public abuse.
