Accra, Ghana — Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has returned to the country following a brief medical leave in the United Kingdom. Her return was confirmed through newly released photographs that show her in good health and actively resuming her official duties.
Her temporary absence had sparked public speculation regarding her condition. However, President John Dramani Mahama had earlier assured the nation of her stable recovery. Speaking at the launch of the government's nationwide sanitary pad distribution initiative on April 24, 2025, President Mahama stated:
“I spoke to Jane Naana yesterday and told her we would miss her at this important event, which she deeply cares about. She asked me to extend her greetings to you all and shared that she is resting and recovering well. She will soon rejoin us to continue advancing our national development agenda.”
The Vice President reportedly experienced a sudden health issue on March 28, 2025, and initially received medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). She was later flown to the UK for further evaluation and treatment.
With her return, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang is expected to resume her full responsibilities as the government prepares for several critical national programs and upcoming engagements.
