Resurfaced Video of Chairman Wontumi Criticizing Mahama Sparks Fresh Political Debate Amid Investigations
A resurfaced video of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has stirred renewed controversy online, coinciding with ongoing investigations and a recent security operation at his residence.
The video, which originally aired on Chairman Wontumi’s Movement TV, shows the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delivering a sharp critique of former President John Dramani Mahama. In the footage, Wontumi makes bold statements challenging Mahama’s leadership and dismissing any attempts to intimidate him.
“I am not scared of you, and you can’t scare me—you can’t push me,” Wontumi stated, highlighting his defiance and political determination.
He also addressed issues surrounding Akonta Mining, a company linked to him that has faced public and regulatory scrutiny. In the video, Wontumi declared that no force, including military intervention allegedly backed by Mahama, could halt the company's operations.
“Even if Mahama sends soldiers, he can’t stop me,” he proclaimed.
The video’s reappearance has fueled speculation, particularly given its timing—just days after National Security operatives reportedly raided Wontumi’s home. While the specific reasons for the operation remain undisclosed, many believe the resurfaced footage may be connected to the unfolding events.
Public reaction has been divided. Supporters of Wontumi have applauded his courage, while critics have denounced his language and questioned the implications of his remarks during an active investigation.
