Kennedy Agyapong Inspires UCC Students to Pursue Success Through Vision, Discipline, and Strategic Risk
Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has delivered an inspiring address to students at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), urging them to build their futures on the foundational principles of vision, financial discipline, and calculated risk-taking.
Speaking at a TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy) event held at the School of Graduate Studies Auditorium, Agyapong emphasized the importance of adopting a long-term mindset and remaining focused, even in the face of societal pressure and the lure of immediate gratification.
“If you aspire to be like Honourable Alfred Obeng, you must develop a clear vision—know exactly where you want to be in five or ten years,” he told the audience, referencing the successful entrepreneur and Member of Parliament.
Renowned for his candid and pragmatic perspectives, Agyapong underscored that success requires resilience and hard work. “Anyone who tells you life is easy is not being truthful,” he remarked.
He stressed the value of financial discipline, advising students to live within their means and avoid unnecessary spending. “Delay gratification. Resist the urge to spend on material things today so you can invest in your future,” he said. “Don’t feel pressured by peers wearing expensive clothes. Be yourself and save whatever little you have.”
However, Agyapong cautioned that saving alone is insufficient. To create meaningful change, those savings must be transformed through strategic risk-taking. “Once you’ve saved enough, it’s time to take risks. As my daughter often says, ‘Risk.’ The future belongs to those who dare to step out of their comfort zones,” he concluded.
Kennedy Agyapong’s message offered both motivation and practical guidance to students as they prepare for their future careers and endeavors.
