Captain Smart Warns Team: "Mention Akufo-Addo and the Dollar Will Rise Again!"

Controversial Ghanaian media personality, Captain Smart, has once again sparked conversation online following a video that has gone viral on social media.

In the footage, Captain Smart is seen hosting his regular show when his in-studio DJ plays a campaign song affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The moment the song begins to play, Captain Smart promptly instructs his DJ to stop the music.

He jokingly warns that any song mentioning President Nana Akufo-Addo’s name could cause the Ghanaian cedi to depreciate further against the US dollar. According to him, simply invoking the president’s name is enough to trigger economic instability.

"Stop playing that song. If you keep playing music that mentions Akufo-Addo, the dollar will rise again," Captain Smart stated, half-jokingly but with a critical undertone.

As of now, the exchange rate stands at GHS 13 to USD 1—a reflection of the ongoing economic concerns in the country.

Captain Smart’s remark has stirred mixed reactions online, with some netizens echoing his sentiments while others dismissed it as another example of his signature sarcasm.
