A young Nigerian woman has ignited widespread discussion on social media after expressing disappointment over what she perceives as a decline in chivalry and generosity among men today.
In a viral video, the unidentified woman reflected on the fading tradition of men offering assistance to women, especially those who appear to be struggling. She contrasted current behavior with what she described as more considerate actions by men in previous years.
"Things have changed! Men have changed! How are our ladies coping?" she exclaimed. "Back in the 2go days, if you went to buy food at a restaurant, a man would walk up and offer to pay for everything. Now, they just wait outside."
She also reminisced about a time when men would offer rides to women they saw walking. "Back then, if a man saw a woman trekking, he’d stop and ask, ‘Are you going my way?’ That hardly happens anymore," she added.
Her comments received mixed reactions online. While some agreed with her sentiments, citing evolving social norms and changing dynamics in dating, others argued that such expectations are outdated and that women should not depend on men for financial or social support.
The video has fueled broader conversations around modern gender roles, dating expectations, and the shifting landscape of interpersonal relationships.
