Allegation Surfaces Against LAUTECH Student Accused of Using Girlfriend for Ritual Despite Lavish Gifts

A Nigerian woman has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a disturbing story involving a student from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). According to the narrator, the male student, allegedly involved in internet fraud, reportedly used his girlfriend for ritual purposes while simultaneously showering her with expensive gifts.

In the viral video, the narrator recounted how the student, who was previously financially unstable, suddenly began acquiring significant wealth, purportedly through internet fraud. As his financial status improved, he reportedly began to spoil his girlfriend with luxury items such as an iPhone, iPad, designer clothing, bone straight hair, and high-end skincare products.

However, the relationship took a dark turn when the girlfriend allegedly accessed his phone and discovered conversations with an herbalist—known locally as a babalawo—based in Ogbomosho. The messages, she claimed, hinted at ritualistic practices, fueling suspicions that the young woman may have unknowingly been used in a spiritual transaction.

“The guy started making money, and as he was cashing out, he began taking care of his girlfriend,” the woman narrated in the TikTok video. “He bought her an iPhone, iPad, bone straight hair, skincare—everything from head to toe. One day, she checked his phone and found messages between him and a babalawo.”

The revelation sparked widespread reactions online, with many TikTok users expressing a mix of shock, sarcasm, and concern. While some joked about the mutual enjoyment of wealth between the couple, others warned of the dangers of materialism and urged caution in romantic relationships.

Sample Reactions from Social Media Users:

  • Ifadamola: “At least they both enjoyed the money. Better than him using someone else and not sharing.”
  • DON FX: “I’ve heard similar stories. One guy used his girlfriend and cared for her until he broke up with her—she died not long after.”
  • AYOBAMI: “She shouldn’t leave the house. They must marry. Who else would want her now?”
  • feli: “They never thought about the future—that’s the real problem.”
  • OMOTOSHO: “Let her stay o! Don’t let single guys end up with someone who’s ‘used’ in Nigeria, not the UK o.”

Some viewers speculated that such cases may be more common than publicly acknowledged, suggesting that ritualistic practices for wealth—often referred to as money rituals—are a growing trend among young people seeking quick riches.

While the story remains unverified and based solely on personal testimony, it has reignited conversations about the influence of wealth, spiritual practices, and trust in relationships—especially among students and young adults in Nigeria.

The original video, shared by TikTok user @i_a_m_t_i_w_a, continues to attract widespread attention, prompting debate across various social media platforms.

Ken Ofori-Atta Files Legal Action Against Special Prosecutor Over 'Wanted Person' Label

Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has taken legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), seeking an injunction to prevent the agency from continuing to label him as a “wanted person” or “fugitive from justice.” This legal move comes after Ofori-Atta's image and personal details were publicly displayed on the OSP's official social media pages, despite earlier assurances made in a letter dated February 18, 2025. In a motion filed by his legal team, Ofori-Atta argues that the OSP's actions violate the principles of administrative justice, specifically the right to a fair process and the protection of his personal dignity.
