20-Year-Old Beauty Apprentice Tragically Killed by Runaway Truck in Bremang

A tragic accident claimed the life of 20-year-old Afia Darkowaa, affectionately known as Cindy, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Bremang UGC, located in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.

According to eyewitnesses and initial police reports, the fatal incident occurred when a truck, left unattended with its engine running, began rolling downhill. The vehicle, which was traveling from Bosuom, Pankrono to Bremang, had been temporarily parked by the driver, who stepped away to use a restroom. Critically, the driver failed to engage the handbrake.

The truck gained momentum as it descended the slope, crashing into a container shop and a nearby food joint. Cindy, who had just arrived at the shop to assist her supervisor, was struck and killed on the spot.

Although she was not scheduled to work that day, Cindy had responded to a last-minute request to help at the shop—an act of kindness that tragically led to her untimely death.

Disturbing footage of the aftermath has circulated widely online, showing the devastation at the crash site and the shock of bystanders. The community is now grieving the loss of a vibrant young woman whose future was full of potential.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the driver has been taken into custody or charged. Investigations are still ongoing.
