A midwife from the Sekesua Health Center in the Upper Manya Krobo District of Ghana's Eastern Region is being celebrated for her quick thinking and decisive action during a high-risk emergency delivery in a remote farming area.

The incident occurred when a pregnant woman, accompanied only by her mother-in-law, began walking to the health facility due to a lack of available transportation. While navigating a bush path near Osonson-Sekesua, the woman unexpectedly went into labor and was forced to lie down on a nearby farm.

According to Citi News, the midwife—identified only as Helen—received an urgent call about the situation. Without hesitation, she and a colleague gathered essential medical supplies and rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the healthcare professionals safely delivered the baby on the farm, ensuring both the mother and newborn were stable and unharmed. The two were subsequently transported to the Sekesua Health Center, where they are now receiving continued care and are reported to be in stable condition.

This remarkable act of dedication underscores the critical role of healthcare workers in rural communities and the life-saving impact of timely maternal health intervention.
