Two individuals have been arrested by the Anti-Robbery Unit of the Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command for possessing what is suspected to be cannabis.

The suspects, John Dzeble, 34, and Adzobi Mesiwotso, 24, were apprehended on Sunday, June 15, 2025, during an intelligence-led police operation. They were travelling in an Opel Astra with registration number GT 6430-13, when the vehicle was intercepted by the police.

According to a statement issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer for the Oti Regional Police Command, a thorough search of the vehicle uncovered 86 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp. The parcels were hidden in multiple concealed compartments within the vehicle, including the engine bay, doors, and boot.

Police also discovered a portable digital scale and a roll of masking tape, believed to be tools used in the packaging of the substances.

The two suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with investigations.

The Oti Regional Police Command commended the officers involved for their professionalism and swift action, and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and other criminal activities within the region.
