The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a man identified as Christopher Partey for the illegal possession of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The arrest took place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, when officers from the National Highway Patrol Unit stopped a Ford Transit bus bearing registration number AS 524-16 near Ayikuma township along the Accra–Somanya highway during a routine patrol.
A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered 40 tightly sealed parcels concealed inside a fertilizer sack in the bus’s boot. Upon questioning, Partey, who was a passenger on the bus, confessed ownership of the packages.
The seized substances have been handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit at Police Headquarters for further testing and investigation. Christopher Partey remains in police custody and is expected to be formally charged in court once the investigations conclude.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and ensuring safety on the nation’s highways. Authorities urge the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to assist in crime prevention.
